Analytik Jena
Mercur

The Mercur from Analytik Jena (exclusively distributed in North America by SCP SCIENCE) is an extremely high-performance instrument for measuring trace and ultra-trace levels of mercury through atomic fluorescence spectrometry. By combining the cold-vapor technique with highly sensitive atomic fluorescence (IDL of 0.01 ppt) the Mercur fulfils the U.S. EPA’s most stringent statutory regulation standards for Hg analysis in water: US EPA 1631 and EPA 245.7. Enrichment times can be varied to match the sample matrix or the expected mercury concentration range.

The Mercur uses CV-AFS to achieve a dynamic range from 0.01 ppt to low ppm values.

A stand-alone system with integrated touch screen (10.4”), the Mercur uses Analytik Jena’s proprietary, intuitive, Windows-based control and data-analysis software to provide optimum flexibility for routine operation as well as for research.

Analytik Jena - Mercur

The versatility of the Mercur in trace and ultra-trace mercury analysis is unparalleled. The instrument can be used as a fully automated, continuous-flow system. When used with Mercur’s autosampler, an astounding array of automation options becomes available:

- Intelligent calibration
   • Auto-dilution from one calibration standard

- Sample dilution with auto-diluter on autosampler
   • Can be set to dilute all samples by a given dilution factor
   • Will automatically detect and dilute any sample above the calibration range

- Sample reporting
   • Complete calculations with dilution factor
   • Final calculation for Hg on solid samples

- Keeps carry-over as low as possible
   • Mercur-exclusive bubble sensor to prevent liquid contamination of gas stream
   • Automatic flushing of tubing
   • Automatic cleaning of carrier gas

High sample throughput, shortest possible tubing paths, continuous flushing, and unique fast baseline return combine to give remarkably fast run times — less than one minute — without compromising quality of measured data

Small sample size (1 ml) and two peristaltic pumps - one for sample and one for reagents/waste - combine to administer clever dosages that minimize reagent consumption and subsequent hazardous waste.

Simple to install, easy to operate, convincing in its results — that’s Mercur.
